The following represents actions taken by the Board of Education at a regular meeting held on August 26, 2002, at the District Office.
The Board of Education:

1. RECEIVED a written report about the summer school program.
2. APPROVED the list of Impartial Hearing Officers for 2002-2003, as submitted.
3. APPROVED the change orders noted below changing said contract, and authorizeD the president of the board to execute same:

12. APPROVED the nonresident student tuition enrollment of Philip J. Singer, grade 9 student, for the 2002-2003 school year.
13. ADOPTED the resolution to authorize the increase in the General Fund Revenue and Appropriation in the amount of $2,118.20, dated August 26, 2002, as submitted.
14. Communications
a. ACCEPTED the letter of resignation of Charlene Cornell, teacher aide (Senior High), effective September 1, 2002, with appreciation for her service to the district.
b. ACCEPTED the letter of resignation of Chester J. Kielkowski, school monitor (Glendaal), effective July 29, 2002, with appreciation for his service to the district.
15. Report of Superintendent
a. Staffing
Items marked with an * are conditioned on the school district’s receipt of clearance for the employee from the State Education Department following a criminal history records check in accordance with the provision of Education Law §3035.
1) GRANTED the superintendent of schools authority to hire staff between August 27 and September 6, 2002, with such hiring to be within the approved Table of Organization, with board ratification to be taken at its regular meeting on September 9, 2002.
2) RESCINDED the part -time appointment of Joscelyn Clark as English teacher (Senior High School) and, further, approved her probationary appointment as English teacher (Senior High), effective September 1, 2002 through June 18, 2005, with 2002-2003 salary at the annual rate of $41,933 (Step 8 +M +2). Mrs. Clark has permanent certification.
3) APPROVED the probationary appointment of Andrea L. Erwetowski as elementary teacher (Glendaal), effective September 1, 2002 through August 31, 2005, with 2002-2003 salary at the annual rate of $33,500 (Step 1). Ms. Erwetowski has provisional certification.
4) APPROVED the part-time appointment of Lauren Amero as English teacher (Senior High), effective September 1, 2002 through June 30, 2003, with 2002-2003 salary at the annual rate of $27,535.20 (Step 2, 80% basis). Ms. Amero has provisional certification.
5) APPROVED* the part-time appointment of Susan Holub-McCann as remedial reading teacher (Middle School), effective September 1, 2002 through June 30, 2003, with 2002-2003 salary at the annual rate of $32,429.60 (Step 11, 70% basis). Mrs. Holub-McCann has permanent certification.

6) RESCINDED the part- time appointment of Joyce Semerad as teaching assistant (Senior High) and further approveD her probationary appointment as teaching assistant (Senior High), effective September 1, 2002 through August 31, 2003, with 2002-2003 salary at the annual rate of $18,236.40 (Step 7, 7 hours/day).
7) APPROVED the stipend of $12,000 for Bruce Kohout, teaching assistant (Senior High), as coordinator of the Governor’s Initiative for Voluntary Excellence (GIVE) Program, effective for the 2002-2003 school year.
8) APPROVED the probationary appointment of Mollie Kohout as teaching assistant (Senior High), effective September 1, 2002 through August 31, 2005, with 2002-2003 salary to be at the annual rate of $16,380 (Step 1, 7 hours/day).
9) APPROVED the probationary appointment of Marianne Ille as teaching assistant (Senior High ), effective September 1, 2002 through August 31, 2005, with 2002-2003 salary at the annual rate of $16,721.25 (Step 2, 7 hours/day).
10) APPROVED the increase in assignment of Linda Risley, teaching assistant (Middle School) from 3.75 hours/day to 6.25 hours/day (Middle School and Senior High), effective September 1, 2002 through June 30, 2003, with 2002-2003 salary at the annual rate of $15,478.13 (Step 4, 6.25 hours/day).

15) APPROVED* the part-time appointment of Gracia Hamm as teacher aide (Glendaal) effective September 5, 2002 through June 30, 2003, with 2002-2003 salary to be at the rate of $7.70/hour (Step 4, 14.25 hours/week).
16) APPROVED* the part-time appointment of Janet Duane as Teacher Aide (Glendaal), effective September 5, 2002 through June 30, 2003, with 2002-2003 salary to be at the rate of $7.70/hour (Step 4, 30.5 hours/week).
17) APPROVED the part-time appointment of Tammara France as teacher aide (Lincoln), effective September 5, 2002 through June 30, 2003, with 2002-2003 salary to be at the rate of $7.10/hour (Step 1, 30.5 hours/week).
18) APPROVED* the part-time appointment of Deborah Bievenue as teacher aide (Glen-Worden), effective September 5, 2002 through June 30, 2003, with 2002-2003 salary to be at the rate of $7.10/hour (Step 1, 30.5 hours/week).
19) APPROVED* the part-time appointment of Nicole Stuart as school monitor (Glendaal), effective September 5, 2002 through June 30, 2003, with 2002-2003 salary to be at the rate of $7.10/hour (Step 1, 5.25 hours/week).
20) APPROVED* the part-time appointment of Lisa Forshey as school monitor (Glendaal), effective September 5, 2002 through June 30, 2003, with 2002-2003 salary to be at the rate of $7.10/hour (Step 1, 5.25 hours/week).
21) TERMINATED the probationary employment of Byron Jenkins, cleaner (Senior High), effective July 19, 2002.
22) APPROVED* the probationary appointment of Jesus Garcia as cleaner (Senior High), effective August 27, 2002, in accordance with Civil Service regulations, with 2002-2003 salary to be at the annual rate of $19,427.20.
23) APPROVED the revised list of part-time teacher aides (Transportation), effective July 1, 2002 through August 31, 2002, as submitted.
24) AGREED that Phyllis Wheeler, school monitor (Middle School) be employed for up to 3 days this summer at her 2001-2002 regular rate of pay for each hour of service.
25) APPROVED the revised salary for Lise Williams, Varsity Soccer Coach (Girls) from Step 5, $3,822 to Step 10, $4,219.
